Dr. Repel – created out of genuine need

Finnish-made Dr. Repel was founded in 2010 when there were no sufficiently effective and reliable solutions on the market for the challenges horses face during the summer. Year after year, the same pattern repeated itself in the stables: as insects multiplied, the horses became restless, their skin became irritated, and bites compromised their overall well-being. A solution was needed that would genuinely improve the horses’ well-being while also functioning seamlessly amid the hustle and bustle of a busy stable routine.

This insight led to the first Dr. Repel innovation: an effective insect repellent tailored to the specific needs of horses. This reinforced the idea that continues to guide us: a horse’s well-being can be significantly improved when products are designed with a genuine understanding of usage scenarios and the animal’s needs, centered around nature’s own active ingredients. Due to stricter EU biocidal product regulations, production of the product was discontinued in 2025. Therefore, there is currently no repellent product in our lineup, but a new repellent is scheduled to be launched in 2027.

Over the years, the Finnish brand Dr. Repel has grown from a single product into a complete product family focused on the well-being of horses’ and ponies’ skin and coats. Each product is designed to be easy to use and a practical aid for everyday grooming situations in the stable, where the horse doesn’t always stand still and care must be quick and safe. Today, Dr. Repel is an integral part of daily life at many stables, used by both hobbyists and professionals alike—whether for routine grooming or supporting the horse’s well-being in daily life and when preparing for competitions.

We believe that a horse’s well-being is clearly visible in everything: its demeanor, movement, and behavior. Horse care products made in Finland give users confidence in what they’re applying to the horse’s skin and coat.
